Earlier this month, OpenAI released a blog post stating that they are introducing a new feature for paying subscribers: creating a custom GPT using their ChatGPT Builder! It will actually start rolling out all features by the end of November 2023!
This gives a chance for many creatives to experiment with their talents. This is also meant to make tasks easier for you. According to OpenAI, you can create a GPT to teach others board games, help your kids do math, or even design stickers!
Additionally, you can build a custom GPT using ChatGPT Builder – no need to learn coding! You can create it for personal use, for your organization, or just for the public to use. It is easy to create a custom GPT, as long as you know the end goal.
OpenAI has also stated that they will create a GPT store where users can share their GPT and sell them in exchange for money.
This user engagement will determine the revenue of their GPTs. However, this store isn’t live yet, but you can still share your GPT publicly so that you can follow through once it goes live!
If you are interested in creating a custom GPT with the help of ChatGPT Builder, you have come to the right place. Keep in mind that just like ChatGPT, GPT Builder also needs an internet connection to function, which is why you need one to create your custom GPT.
If your current ISP doesn’t do the job, we recommend switching to Xfinity Internet to enjoy seamless connectivity while you build your custom GPT with the help of ChatGPT Builder.
Let’s find out how to create custom GPT with the help of ChatGPT Builder:
Guide to Creating Custom GPT using ChatGPT Builder
As already mentioned before, using this feature is available for paying subscribers only.
Following are the steps to creating a custom GPT using ChatGPT Builder:
- Sign in to your ChatGPT account.
- Click on the Explore tab on the left side of the screen.
- On the next screen, click on Create a GPT under the My GPTs heading.
Since the Chat GPT Builder is still in beta mode, do keep in mind that not all features are online.
- On the next page, you’ll see a split screen, with GPT Builder on the left and a Preview section on the right. You can start typing in the Message GPT Builder box to describe what you need to build. As an example, you can start with:
“I want to build a food recommendation chatbot. The chatbot will ask users questions to know what kind of food they like/prefer and then provide suggestions from UberEat based on their locality.”
Keep it short and simple. Once you hit the Return key on your keyboard, the GPT builder will start working on building a customized GPT for you.
You can suggest different tips to the GPT Builder as you view them in the Preview section. You can also ask it to regenerate more images if you are not satisfied with what the builder is showing.
You can even suggest a tone that communicates with users of your food recommendation chatbot. You also have the option to upload files so that the GPT builder can draw the required information from it.
All of this will give you a chance to experiment with your custom GPT by having a back-and-forth with the GPT Builder.
- When you feel like you have made all the editing you need for your custom GPT, you can go ahead and save your work by clicking on the Save button in the upper right corner.
- This gives you to option to publish your custom GPT to only me, only people with a link, or public. You can come back to it again if you need to make further modifications.
Final Thoughts
GPTs are extremely powerful tools that users can utilize to get more out of ChatGPT and then use them in their daily lives efficiently. That is what OpenAI aims to do with the introduction of GPTs using ChatGPT Builders: create a community where people can create GPTs with no technical skill required.
Do keep in mind that the GPT Builder is still limited in its application the same as ChatGPT because AI lacks any human creativity.
